Looking for something fun to do this weekend?! Why not check out the Six Nations of the Grand River Annual Fall Fair? This year will be the Six Nations Fall Fairs 149th anniversary, making it the oldest and longest running native fair in Ontario. The Fall Fair’s original location was at the farm of Chief W.M. Johnson at the corner of Mohawk Road and First Line. Since then, the fair has grown and now takes place on the Six Nations Fairgrounds, located in front of the Gaylord Powless Arena and Community Hall on 1738 4th Line, in Ohsweken Ontario. Several annual events take place at the Fall Fair including; The Miss Six Nations Pageant, which includes seven different categories from Tiny Tots to Miss Six Nations. Other pageants include the Baby Show, which consists of three age categories and other categories such as ‘Most Typical Indian Baby’ and ‘Chip off the ol’ Block’. Other events scheduled for the 2016 fall fair include the Singing Contest with a $1000 first place prize and others such as the Demolition Derby, Smoke Dance Competition, Car Show, baseball games, kids contests and of course midway rides. The Festivities begin this Friday, August 19th starting with the Miss Six Nations Pageant at 7:00pm. Gates will open at 4:00pm on Friday evening, 9:00am on Saturday, and 10:00am on Sunday and don’t forget admission is free all weekend! See poster for a list of event times and dates. We hope to see you there!
