U-19 and U-17 Worlds box lacrosse championship 2016
With the U-19 and U-17 box lacrosse championships scheduled to happen next week right here in Six Nations of the Grand River, it reminds us of the history and significance the game means to the people of Six Nations. The game of Lacrosse has been in the blood of Haudenosaunee people since before time, to most, lacrosse isn’t just a game it’s a way of life. The Creators game is what we call it and has been given to the Haudenosaunee as medicine to entertain the people, and to entertain our minds as well as the Creator. Today lacrosse has grown to become an international competitive sport along with two different professional leagues and continues to be the fastest growing sport today.
So come and check out some rising stars compete in this ancient game for the Worlds box lacrosse championship. The tournament will be starting Wednesday August 24th 2016 to Saturday August 27th 2016 held in Six Nations at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena 3201 Second Line, Hagersville, ON N0A 1H0. This year will be the second one held in our beautiful community of Six Nations.
Some of the Haudenosaunee teams taking part in these world games include; The Iroquois East and Iroquois West will return along with Seneca Nation, Iroquois U-17 and Iroquois Grand River, other visiting teams include; Israel, Czech Republic, Germany (Deutschland Alder), Hamilton, Ireland (Emerald Islanders) and Team Nordic (who will have player representing the Nordic countries.)
